Today marked a quintessential moment of dialogue and connection as His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, and I paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Duma Gideon Boko, President of the Republic of Botswana, at the Presidential Office in Gaborone.
We were joined by Her Excellency Ameenah Gurib-Fakim, former President of Mauritius and the first woman to hold that office, who accompanied us as part of our delegation. The visit formed one of the key engagements of the Elevate Africa Convening, currently taking place in Botswana under the theme ‘Africa, The Next Chapter’.
President Boko received us with warmth and generosity, commending the Elevate Africa initiative for advancing unity, innovation, and inclusive leadership across the continent. Our discussion focused on deepening collaboration among African nations, empowering youth and women, and strengthening the partnership between traditional and political leadership as a foundation for sustainable development.
We expressed our sincere appreciation to His Excellency and to the people of Botswana for their gracious hospitality and partnership in advancing Africa’s collective vision for growth and transformation.
